Though Rockstar Games has finally admitted to developing the next game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, they have not offered any confirmation on its final title.
There are many fans who believe that its rumored title (GTA 6) will be its final title. Well, while one is not sure as to what exactly will the next game be called, Strauss Zelnick, who heads Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive has stated that the developing team does not wish to revisit the past while developing the next installment in the popular gaming franchise.
Zelnick’s statement is indicative of the fact that the team behind the GTA franchise now wants to move and re-introduce the world of this gaming franchise in a new and different avatar to gamers. Recently, GTA V was declared the second best-selling game of all time. Despite being launched almost a decade ago, the game has been getting more and more popular with time.
Multiple versions of the game, which have been around for a very long time, continue to be extremely popular. However, the developing team believes that a game needs to evolve with time and this will help it reach out to a younger set of gamers who keep themselves updated with all the changes and shifts taking place in the world of gaming and technology.
In an interview given to gaming portal Gamesindustry.biz, Zelnick emphasized the importance of a gaming company being “fresh” and offering customers exactly what they are looking for at a given point in time. He also stated that trying to “protect the past” is a sure-shot way of becoming irrelevant.
Zelnick said that he feels extremely excited about the fact that Rockstar Games is actively working towards developing a brand new Grand Theft Auto game. He acknowledged the fact that they faced a bunch of challenges while trying to introduce NFTs but the team believes it has a very bright future. Since Take-Two Interactive has been in the business of selling digital goods for long, Zelnick stated, the company firmly believes in its potential.
