The HTC Desire 826 is one of the barebones offering from the Taiwanese manufacturer in an attempt to spice up the mid-range smartphone segment.
Released in March 2015, the device has been around for a considerable amount of time. Since it is much older than some of its competitors, price cuts are the only way of preserving the interest amongst buyers. HTC has announced the latest round of price cuts to the HTC Desire 826, and it has seen the device’s price tag fall to an extremely reasonable $150.
Armed with a 5.5 inch display and a 1080p resolution, the HTC Desire 826 boasts of excellent specifications in the display department. Of course, it may not come with the AMOLED or other top technologies, but it is more than acceptable. The Desire 826 was initially priced at $250, thus making the current price a whopping $100 reduction over the original version. The price, though, is only for the unlocked variant in the blue color. Apart from the display, the phone has 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded using microSD cards of up to 256 GB.
Even when a user decides to go for such a vast amount of storage, the HTC Desire 826 may not have any trouble in handling the requirements since it has a sufficiently powered snapdragon 615 processor on-board. This processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM was a major factor in allowing the HTC Desire 826 to get upgraded to the android 6.0 operating system. It initially offered the android lollipop out of the box. The 2 GB of RAM may be the only concern for the buyer since it leaves little for other apps, but it is almost the same kind of temporary storage offered by phones in this price range.
At this price range, one of the big advantages could be the 13-megapixel rear camera which is also aided by a four-megapixel front camera. There are markets where the HTC Desire 826 is sold with a front facing 13-megapixel camera too, but not in the United States. The phone has an extensive range of connectivity options with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, and Wi-Fi direct.
For a phone with a 5.5-inch screen, the 2600 mAh battery may seem on the smaller side but the HTC Desire 826 can just about last through the day on a single charge. The current promotion, though, lasts only for four days.
