HTC Might Revive its “One Series” with the New Model HTC 2Q7A100; Hints NCC Certification

HTC 2Q7A100 phone

Taiwanese manufacturer HTC is getting set to unveil a new smartphone which has been approved by NCC in Taiwan and it comes with model number HTC 2Q7A100.

This company has been strongly hit by the fierce competition in the smartphone market and we don’t often hear of HTC’s devices anymore. However, with the company preparing to release its second blockchain phone (HTC Exodus 2) and this latest appearance, HTC is still keen on the smartphone market, after all. The NCC approval comes with a prototype image which reveals some details about this device.

From the prototype image, the top bezel and the chin are pretty thick for a 2019 mid-range smartphone but it appears that it comes with a dual selfie camera from the number of sensor holes available on the top bezel. On the right side of this device, we have the usual volume rockers and the power button. The prototype also shows that we will have a cool gray color option but there could be more.

HTC One Series?

The Chinese text in the prototype image hints that the HTC 2Q7A100 body is molded from a high viscosity silicone thickening + fog film, in simple terms, it has a solid plastic body and it is about 12mm thick. Another important aspect of the prototype image is that the remark shows that this smartphone is the same as HTC M7’s which dates as far back as 2013. It is not entirely clear what this remark means but it is possible that this device could be in the HTC M7 series. Actually, the HTC M7 series is called HTC One series which is the predecessor of the HTC U series. The last smartphone from the HTC One series is the HTC One X10 which was released in July 2017. HTC One phones come with small displays (not larger than 5.5-inch) thus we expect the HTC 2Q7A100 to come with a display size not more than 6.0-inch.

Two Geekbench Appearances with Different Processors

According to the Geekbench listing on April 11, 2019, the HTC 2Q7A100 is a mid-range smartphone which will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC clocking 1.71 GHz coupled with 6GB of RAM. The listing also revealed that in the software end, this device will be equipped with the Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.

However, in another Geekbench listing of May 3, 2019, the HTC 2Q7A1 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 coupled with the same 6GB of RAM and Android 9 Pie. It is not entirely clear why this smartphone has two Geekbench listings with different SoCs but this is not strange to the smartphone industry. Samsung is known for using a Snapdragon chip as well as its in-house Exynos chip for the same phone meant for different markets. It appears that this will be the case with this upcoming HTC phone.
