HTC One M8 Android 7.0 Nougat OTA Update at T-Mobile Ready to Start Rolling Out

HTC One M8

Many HTC One M8 users will be surprised with the latest development where the phone has now been approved for an update to Android 7.0 Nougat, but only at T-Mobile.

This is without a doubt interesting given that the HTC One M8 is now three years old following its March 2014 release. According to T-Mobile, the phone’s testing phase for Android 7.0 Nougat is complete and in fact, the software has already been approved for release.

Since the OS has been approved, you can expect to receive the update to Android 7.0 Nougat on your HTC One M8 anytime from now. Since this is an official channel, it will be coming out as an OTA and as such, it should take some time before all One M8 users on T-Mobile are able to get the notification to download it.

At the time of release, the HTC One M8 was preinstalled with Android 4.4.2. KitKat. Since then, it has been updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and now Android 7.0 Nougat, the device’s fourth major operating system. Quite a milestone huh!

HTC One M8

This is an early Christmas present for HTC One M8 users on T-Mobile because this OS probably won’t make it to the unlocked variants of the same phone. The One M8 will become only the second device from 2014 to be officially updated to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, following in the footsteps of the Motorola-made Google Nexus 6, although the latter is still months younger than the One M8.

There’s no better time than being a T-Mobile user of HTC One M8 than now, but for those who are using this phone on other carriers or the unlocked version, you may have to seek other means of getting Android 7.0 Nougat on your phone, including the use of custom ROMs, but this will also mean that you root your device. Sorry guys!
