HTC One M9 users can finally have something to smile about as this flagship from 2015 has finally received an official date of receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
While HTC has rumored to be working on releasing a new HTC One M10 somewhere in April this year, those who own last year’s flagship will beginning from next week be able to upgrade the phone’s operating system from Android Lollipop to the latest Marshmallow OS.
HTC is not the only company that is coming in with late upgrade programs for its latest smartphones. Samsung has also been in the same hot seat and so has Motorola, but things are starting to light up down the tunnel. For more than a month and a half since the update was made available, it is now that HTC has decided to avail it to One M9 users.
Those using unlocked models of this device have been able to access the Marshmallow update for the past more than one month, however, starting Tuesday next week, those using the locked versions can enjoy the same benefits of the new OS.
According to a revelation made by HTC product manager Mo Versi, it seems technical approval is over and soon those using HTC One M9 on T-Mobile network will now be able to get this new OS on their devices as from next week. A little while later, the same person confirmed that those using the device on Verizon will also be getting this update starting next week, February 16.
HTC One M9 Sprint users already received the Marshmallow update
Even though T-Mobile and Verizon are two of the leading providers of mobile wireless services in the United States, they will have no choice but to settle for the second spot. This is true because another player in the same market – Sprint – already did this and in fact, it’s been about two weeks since customers on this network started celebrating this new update.
The fact that Verizon and T-Mobile users of HTC One M9 will be getting this new version of Marshmallow OS will come as a welcome upgrade to users. This is true because the new OS brings to the fold quite a number of new capabilities, among them the Doze feature that will help you save more on your phone’s battery life as well as another special feature known as Google Now on Tap, which is simply an improved version of the famous Google Now.
If you own a HTC One M9 running on either Verizon or T-Mobile, feel free to let us know how it feels to learn that the Marshmallow update is ready for your phone in the comments below.
