HTC U11 is Getting Rave Reviews, but OnePlus 5 has Mixed Reactions

HTC U11, OnePlus 5

HTC is the granddaddy of smartphones, especially when compared to OnePlus, which only started making phones in 2014.

Over the past few years, the Taiwanese company hasn’t been seeing the best of success and possibly this is because of the entry of new players such as OnePlus. The Chinese OEM first made headlines when it came in with the OnePlus One, a flagship phone available on the budget. Since then, the story has been more of the same, including the latest OnePlus 5.

While the HTC U11 has the same internals as the OnePlus 5, much criticism has been heading the latter’s way as far the design is concerned. In fact, it’s not just about the design, but XDA Developers also found that OnePlus is playing the cheating game as far as benchmarks are concerned.

HTC’s design for the U11, on the other hand, is receiving rave reviews from all corners of the globe – or at least the markets it has been launched. After a series of failed attempts with the One M9, One A9, last year’s HTC 10 and the pioneer of the U series, the company has finally made a phone that has captured the attention of many.

It gets even better when it comes to the camera of the HTC U11, which is the first to record a rating of 90 on DxOMark. While the OnePlus 5 has not been rated yet, it’ll be hard beating this mark achieved by the U11, even with its dual-lens setup that flaunts a 16MP+20MP setup. One commenter from India even claims that he has saved 38,000 INR by not buying the OnePlus 5 and more others from the Apple camp are unhappy with the fact that OnePlus blatantly copied the design of the iPhone 7 Plus, labeling it as a complete lack of innovation on this front.

Of course, there are many others who are happy with the design of the OnePlus 5 and since the phone is also way cheaper than the HTC U11, it may also end up gaining more traction than the latter. On the contrary, early reports suggest that the U11 is selling much better than its predecessor, the HTC 10, which should good news for HTC.
