With a bevy of exciting colors and exciting features, there are quite a few aspects that make these dual SIM Mate handsets stand apart from their other Huawei counterparts. This leads us to believe that there will be deviations from opting for its standard gold color or metallic gray finish. Whilst the manufacturer has opted to remain tight lipped about the upcoming phablets, their leaked images give out the possibility of some specifications. Undoubtedly the Mate 9 Pro will support better configuration than the Mate 9.

The screenshots indicate that the handsets will be really sleek and comparatively long. Thus, they also do not appear to be bulky in either your pocket or hand. However, there are chances that both the devices will tend to protrude a little from your palm or pocket because of its length. As of now, there is no clear information about the overall dimensions and weight. Known to offer a metallic unibody for its gadgets, you can hopefully expect the same from these Huawei phablets.

The Huawei Mate 9 will make use of the standard flat panel display whereas the Huawei Mate 9 Pro seems to have drawn inspiration from the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge for its display. Leaked images show the possibility of a curved glass display like the Samsung device. While Manhattan is rumored to have a 5.9-inch Full HD screen, the Long Island will take it a step ahead with its QHD screen of size 6 inches. They are both said to feature IPS-NEO LCD capacitive touch screens and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for scratch resistance. There will also mostly be a remarkable difference in their pixel resolutions and pixel densities. Talks are that the former phablet will depict the typical 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and 373 ppi pixel density whereas the latter handset will comprise a pixel resolution and a pixel density of 1440 x 2560 and 490ppi respectively.

In the optics department, both the Mate devices are exactly identical. Going with the latest trend of primary camera setup, they will have dual 20MP rear cameras with Leica lenses and dual tone dual LED flash. Noteworthy features are bound to be optical image stabilization and 4x optical zoom. Glimpses of the pictures of the Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro however indicate a difference in the positioning of the two cameras. In smartphones with dual cameras, the two shooters are usually placed horizontally side by side. But, they are placed vertically one below the other in the Huawei devices. There is no indication why the manufacturer has opted for such a design. The primary cameras are expected to shoot 2160p videos @ 30 fps. Whichever phablet you choose, the front snapper will be an 8MP shutterbug with 1080p resolution.

Like the shooters, Manhattan and Long Island are more likely to come with exactly the same configuration under their hoods. Each phablet will come with two variations of RAM and internal storage. One choice is said to be to 4GB RAM with either 64GB or 128GB ROM for internal storage. An alternative is gossiped to be 6GB RAM and 256GB storage. Irrespective of your choice, you will be able to use a memory card in the second SIM card slot to augment the available memory by yet another 256GB. They are rumored to be loaded with a Hisilicon Kirin 960 chipset and an octa core Cortex A53 central processor clocking at 2.6GHz.
