The launch of Huawei P9 and P9 Plus has brought good fortune for the company as it reclaims top spot in China’s smartphone market.
According to the reports, Huawei, the Chinese home grown phone brand, sold 24.4% of all smart phones in urban China last year which was more than Apple’s total sales in China which was around 22%. The lukewarm response to iPhone SE and the heartwarming response to the newly launched P9 and P9 Plus tilted the scale in Huawei’s favor. Market analysts said that this is the first time Apple’s share in China’s smartphone market has dropped since 2014.
Huawei is excited about the new phone launches as they are well received by tech fans. The new Huawei phones could also revive the interest in camera phones that was seen earlier after the launch of Sony’s Xperia Z series. For the first time, Huawei has partnered with Germany’s Leica Camera AG to launch dual camera phones.
The company is making lots of noise about the new camera features introduced in their P9 and P9 Plus phones. Though the concept of dual rear camera phones is not new, the unique dual camera arrangement in the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus sets them apart. Both phones have two 12 megapixel rear cameras, one of which is RGB while the other is monochrome. The cameras are equipped with Leica technology which offers standard, vivid, and smooth film modes. Both phones have 8 megapixel front cameras while the front camera in P9 Plus also has laser autofocus for selfies.
Though some users have pointed out average build quality of the phones, the overall experience offered by the phone is great. One look at the P9 and P9 Plus and you can tell the company has paid a lot of attention to the design and the result is phones with sleek form factor that can give Samsung and Apple a run for their money.
Apart from the good performance in the camera section, the newly launched P9 and P9 Plus also live up to the expectations in the hardware section. The P9 and P9 Plus are powered by octa-core 64 bit chipset and 3GB RAM. The new chipset offers 100% performance improvement in comparison to chipset fitted in the P8.
