Huawei P9 is a 2016 flagship that took many by surprise thanks to its impressive design, hardware specs and more so the Leica-branded dual-lens camera on the back.
The phone was unveiled April 2016 and like any other phone that came in at that time, the Huawei P9 comes preinstalled with Android Marshmallow out of the box. Being the current flagship from the company (just before the release of the P10), many expected that the tech company will make it a priority to push the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update to the device probably in late 2016 or early 2017.
Well, it happened and in fact, the first Huawei P9 handset to be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat did so back in December 2016. Unfortunately, this was only happening in China, the local market of the company. But if you own a P9 phone from Huawei, well, you should be able to receive the new OS at some point this month.

According to a tweet by Huawei India, the rest of the globe will receive the Huawei P9 Android 7.0 Nougat OTA before the end of this month. This is good news for those rocking this phone, especially since the OS started rolling out last year. Those in China got firmware version B352 and given that the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are expected to launch with a newer EMUI 5.1, it is possible that this new Nougat update could hit the global variants of the P9 with a different build version. Furthermore, the same update should also bring with it the latest Android security patch, possibly for this month.
While the specific date of when this update will start hitting Huawei P9 handsets is not known, we will for sure keep tabs on the development and let you know when exactly this happens. Stay tuned!
