The 2017 Honda CR-V, the best selling SUV of America, has earned the award of Top Safety Pick + from the IIHS.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or IIHS has awarded this high rating for the vehicle, when it is equipped with the Honda Sensing TM and the LED headlights.

The Honda CR-V has been awarded with this SUPERIOR rating in case of prevention of frontal crashes when it comes with the Honda Sensing feature. The Honda Sensing feature comes as a standard feature on the EX as well as other higher versions of the CR-V.

Other Ratings

In addition to the Superior rating for frontal crashes, the Honda CR-V was also awarded a GOOD rating in five of the crash test models of the IIHS, which included the small overlap test for frontal crashes. An ACCEPTABLE rating was awarded for the headlights of the CR-V.

Criteria for Top Safety Pick+

In order that a vehicle gets an aware of the Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS, the vehicle has to get a GOOD rating in case of the small overlap and the moderate overlap front, the side and the roof strength as well as tests for head restraint. The vehicle should also be equipped with a prevention system for front crashes, which has been awarded either SUPERIOR or ADVANCED ratings. In addition, the headlights of the vehicle must be awarded either GOOD or ACCEPTABLE ratings as criteria for the Top Safety Pick+ award.

All the Honda models of 2017 come with rearview cameras having multiple angles, as the basic equipment.
