Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5 were recently unveiled and now they have come to join the iPhone 6S as the most exciting flagships in 2016.
Apple and Samsung dominate the smartphone sales charts in the United States and around the globe, in general, however, LG is still doing great with its range of G series flagships. These three smartphones are actually the hottest in the market and if you are after the best, here is a rundown of how the specs sheets of these devices compare.
Material builds and display quality
In terms of size, the iPhone 6S is the smaller, which makes it the most comfortable to hold in one hand. The Galaxy S7 comes in at second then followed by the LG G5, however, the latter is the widest of the three.
The glass rear of the Galaxy S7 makes it more vulnerable to breaking even though it is protected by the latest Gorilla Glass technology, something that makes it less durable than the iPhone 6S and LG G5. PCMag reports that the metal cases on the LG G5 and iPhone 6S make these two much more durable than the glass back on the Galaxy S7. However, Samsung‘s device is the only one that comes with certified waterproof capabilities.
As far as screens are concerned, the iPhone 6S is the smallest with a 4.7-inch LCD display, which is the same technology used by LG in its LG G5. However, the latter’s screen size is a little larger at 5.3 inches and also adds a QHD resolution and an Always On feature. Samsung appears to be ahead of the game with its Super AMOLED QHD display size of 5.1 inches that ensures very sharp views in all conditions. Like LG G5, the Galaxy S7 has an Always On feature on top.
Cameras and battery
The newer LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 have much better cameras than what the iPhone 6S has, however, all three devices have undeniably high-quality cameras, especially when it comes to good lighting conditions. LG G5 has a dual-camera system, with one lens taking care of the wide-angle view. It also comes with lots of camera ad-ons to add to this already quality camera, however, the Galaxy S7 just gets it when it comes to low light conditions.
Of the three smartphones, Samsung Galaxy S7 has the best battery life. Boasting a 3000mAh unit, this device can take you through a huge part of the day. The Galaxy S7 will give you longer battery life than LG G5’s 2800mAh battery pack. However, the G5 has a removable battery, which means users can come in with a 4000mAh battery pack that comes along with the phone’s Cam+ accessory. The iPhone 6S has the smallest battery capacity of 1715mAh, which can manage about 4.5 hours of video playback time.
Processing power
Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5 come with similar specs under the hood, but this only affects the U.S. variant of the Galaxy S7. Both devices have a Snapdragon 820 and 4GB RAM under the hood, however, Samsung has another offering that is powered by its own Exynos 8890, but still carries the same RAM. The iPhone 6S uses Apple’s 64-bit A9 processor with an embedded M9 processor and a RAM of 2GB.
The iPhone has the largest storage capacities available for the three phones, coming in with a 128GB variant. On the other hand, LG G5 only manages a 32GB model, but there is room for a microSD card slot of up to 200GB. The same is also true for Samsung Galaxy S7, but there is a 64GB variant that will apparently not sale in the U.S.
