Apple faced issues with regard to popularity for its iPhone range only six months ago.
The company was faced with falling sales of the device, which has never before encountered the situation. However, they now look set to end 2016 on a positive note as analysts predict that Apple could sell as much as 15 million iPhones on the back of the problems faced by the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Despite recently replacing affected units, Samsung has been hit by another scandal with even the replacement units exploding on some occasions.
Samsung are expected to take the drastic step of taking away the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 completely from the markets and it may not reappear this time around. The company are thought to be furiously working on the Samsung Galaxy S8, which may be launched well ahead of schedule in order to compensate for the Galaxy Note 7 explosion scandal. Apple, though, seem to be the biggest benefactor, as the recently launched iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus has seen unprecedented interest amongst buyers.
Analysts are predicting that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 problems could lead to a 1% increase in the market share of the Apple iPhone worldwide. This represents a significant increase as Apple only has 11.8% compared to Samsung’s 22.4% market share in the smartphone segment.
The two devices are a definite improvement over the previous iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, but not in a significant way – especially in the case of the base version. Apple has improved aspects like the lowest amount of memory capacity from 16 GB to a more comfortable 64 GB. While screen resolution and screen size remains the same, it is not possible to enjoy the retina display underwater. It is because the new iPhone is the first of its kind to sport water resistant capabilities, although this feature has been seen in several android phones already.
One of the biggest improvements on the new device will be the processing power provided by the Apple A10 Fusion chipset. While users will be able to notice small increments in speed in day-to-day tasks, the performance provided by the new chipset will be quite apparent when performing power hungry tasks like photo editing or video editing. Due to the all of the headphone socket, Apple has been able to free up space for more batteries. The battery life has seen tremendous improvement on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus due to this reason.
