Leaked images of the rumored OnePlus 5T reveal a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner

OnePlus 5T

Ever since the release of the OnePlus 5, it was almost inevitable that the OnePlus 5T is on the way and apparently, the Chinese OEM seems to be getting ready to unveil the phone in a few weeks’ time.

Last year’s OnePlus 3T was the first under the T family and it arrived on November 15. There weren’t so many design differences between the previously released OnePlus 3 compared to the 3T, but this year’s OnePlus 5T seems to be taking a different direction, probably due to what is going on in the smartphone world.

In a new leak coming from China’s notorious social networking platform Weibo, we have our eyes on what is claimed to be the front and rear designs of the rumored OnePlus 5T. Prior to these images, it had emerged that OnePlus is working on a 5T smartphone that would match the designs we already see on a number of flagship phones from LG, Samsung, Google and Apple for that matter. These include a 6-inch display screen with a full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. For comparison, the OnePlus 5 has a 5.5-inch panel with a full HD resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.

If these images are to be believed, the upcoming OnePlus 5T will have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, thus moving it from the bottom bezel, just like Samsung did with the Galaxy S8 and Note 8. As for the rest of the back panel, the phone looks like the original OnePlus 5, which includes a dual camera on the back. The front-facing image also shows a display with flat edges.

There is nothing else we’ve learned about the OnePlus 5T from this leak, but given that the OnePlus 3T is almost a year old, we should be getting more details about its successor in the coming days. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.
