We’ve seen a lot of the Moto G5 Plus in the recent past, however, details about the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Play have remained scarce – but this is no more.
According to a recently leaked specs sheet of the Moto G5 Play, it appears that the phone, just like the much-rumored Moto G5 and G5 Plus, will come with a few upgrades in terms of performance. Last year’s Moto G4 Play had a good combination of specs that were iced by a solid battery unit. The screen size was 5 inches and had a 720p HD resolution. Under the hood, the Lenovo-made phone came in with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor that is clocked at a speed of 1.2GHz and is paired with an Adreno 306 GPU.
Buyers of the Moto G4 Play had two RAM and storage options to choose from. The entry-level variant had 1GB RAM and 8GB storage while its counterpart came in with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. Both variants have a microSD card slot that can handle up to 128GB. The back camera of the G4 Play ships with an 8MP lens that has an aperture of f/2.2, LED flash and AF. As for the front, you get a 5MP lens with the same aperture. As noted earlier, the battery unit is great at 2800mAh and it gets even better given that you can swap it at any time, something that is increasingly becoming scarce in the smartphone world.

Now, those looking to grab themselves an upgrade to this phone that comes in the shape of Moto G5 Play should be ready for some really huge steps upwards. Although the phone will keep the same screen size, the resolution will be upped to Full HD. Under the hood, the processor is also stepped up to Snapdragon 430 and the RAM is 2GB. It gets even more interesting as the leak puts the storage of the G5 Play at 32GB, twice the amount of the highest-end offering of the G4 Play.
There are also some upgrades to the main camera, which gets a bump from 8MP to 13MP, but the front snapper remains at 5MP, and so does the battery capacity – 2800mAh. Like the Moto G5 and G5 Plus, the Moto G5 Play will also be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Motorola is expected to announce the Moto G5 Play alongside the other two Moto G5 phones at the upcoming MWC 2017 show, which starts towards the end of next month.
