A while back, a rumor emerged claiming that there’s a Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 in the works. While not so much was revealed by the tipster, it was further claimed that the phone will be powered by a new midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.
While Xiaomi has not mentioned a thing regarding this development, even more leaks are coming in suggesting that the Redmi Pro 2 launch could, in fact, be just around the corner. The Chinese OEM has already confirmed that the flagship Xiaomi Mi 6 will be unveiled on April 19th. Whether the midrange Redmi Pro 2 will be part of this launch or not is still anyone’s guess.
On the contrary, a new listing on China’s online retailer known as Taobao may suggest that indeed the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 might be unveiled in the coming days. In fact, the listing gives us details about the price of the phone.
If the retailer is to be believed, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be yours for just CNY 1599, which is about $230. This is an interesting price tag for a phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC on board paired with a massive 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. But if you think this is the best part, well, you’ll be surprised with what the high-end variant is valued at.
Apparently, the high-end variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be valued at CNY 1799, which is about $260. For this price tag, the Redmi Pro 2 gets you the same processor, but ups the RAM to a massive 6GB and doubles the storage to 128GB. Still, don’t be surprised if the phone came in with a MediaTek processor, probably the Helio P25. However, the two variants should have room for microSD card storage.
The Redmi Pro 2 will be powered by a massive 4500mAh battery unit with support for fast charging technology. On the back, you’ll bump into a 12MP Sony IMX362 Dual Pixel sensor and software-wise, it would be anyone’s wish that Android Nougat comes with the device out of the box.
