LG has associated itself with Google to design a new range of Android Wear 2.0 wearables to cater to the demanding younger generation.
The partnership has enabled them to develop the Watch Sport and the Watch Style scheduled for launch on February 10th.
Making the announcement in their press room, LG confirmed that the two new models will run on Android Wear 2.0 operating system pushing Google’s vision further into the future. While the initial launch will take place this week in the United States, the company confirmed that they will be rolling out the device in all important regions including Europe and Asia. People will be able to buy them through the Google Store as well as select retailers in the countries where the products are launched.
Google’s next generation wearable OS, Android Wear 2.0 has generated great hype because of its ability to do many tasks and support features. It should allow LG and other manufacturers to make watches as smart as the mobile phones. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, the new LG Watch Sport and Watch Style is capable of supporting Android Pay. It is equipped with NFC, works with Google Fit and has a much better user interface than the previous version of the OS.
You can now customize the watch face to display up to eight different information in the circular display. It is possible to scroll through messages, notifications and you can even swipe or handwrite replies to messages on your smart watch. The LG Watch Sport supports 4G LTE connectivity, has GPS, allows payments and runs very much like a smartphone except that it still needs your phone to be connected to the web for the apps to run seamlessly.
While the Sport is geared towards fitness enthusiasts, the Watch Style is for the fashion conscious buyer with a 10.79mm thick case, IP67 water resistant rating and three stylish color choices. The watch will be available in titanium, silver and rose gold editions.
Watch Sport features a 1.38-inch P-OLED display with 480×480 pixels. The model is powered by Snapdragon Wear 2100 and has 4GB of storage space with 768MB RAM. The battery capacity is 430mAh. It supports Wifi, bluetooth, 3G, 4G LTE and NFC with IP68 water resistant rating. Watch Style has a smaller 1.2-inch P-OLED display with 360×360 pixels and is powered by the same processor and 4GB of storage. It has lower 512MB RAM and 240 mAhbattery. Pricing is yet to be announced by LG.
