LG Launches LG X Power with 4100 MAh Battery

LG X Power

LG has quietly announced two new models – LG X Power and LG X Style – to compete in the segment just below the LG G5.

The latter has been one of the promising models in the 2016 line-up from the company. Despite feeling the heat from phones like the Samsung Galaxy S7, the device has managed to carve out a niche for itself. LG is expecting the same from the LG X Power and LG X Style, which have been unveiled in Ukraine.

The feature which gets the most attention on the LG X Power is undoubtedly the battery. In fact, it seems that the name of the device is derived from the phone’s capacity to last for substantially longer than other higher end devices. It will manage to do so by having a 4100 mAh battery. There have been phones with even 5000 mAh batteries, but they are invariably found in devices with a 6 inch display. Hence, in most circumstances, it negates the advantage of having such a large sized battery.

In the LG X Power, though, LG has opted for the 5.3 inch display with just 720p resolution. The phone also has modest processor specifications. Rather than the mid-range snapdragon processors, the LG X Power opts for the MediaTek MT6735 chipset. It is a quad core processor clocked at 1.14 GHz. This represents an average performance to handle the android operating system. The RAM memory is also average at 2 GB. Considering that this will be positioned as a mid-range smartphone, LG are not too compelled to offer class leading internal storage.

The 16 GB offered as default on the internal storage front will be more than sufficient in this segment, but there is an option to expand this storage using memory cards. The availability of microSD card slots will be a huge advantage considering the rapid fall in prices of external storage. Higher end LG devices may have class leading cameras with features like laser autofocus, but theLG X Power has to do with a usual 13-megapixel camera with basic set of features like autofocus and LED flash. The phone does not offer 4K video recording capabilities and only comes with 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second. The front camera has an eight-megapixel sensor and will be a talking point for its detail.

TheLG X Power is expected to be priced around $200 when it arrives in June.
