LG’s new flagship smartphone the V20 with a semi-modular design is all set to make its grand arrival in September 2016.
According to the manufacturer, the key highlights of this handset are no compromise on sound and audio quality. In other words, the sound and audio quality of this device will be far superior to other LG gadgets launched so far. The company is making this possible by the incorporation of 32-bit quad DAC functionality preloaded in the smartphone to enhance the audio experience. This will be the first handset in the world to support this feature. The quad DAC assures delivery of crisp and clear performance that makes it very similar to enjoying a live performance. Moreover, this feature results in recording videos along with a soundtrack that records roaring sound waves or two people talking in a noisy environment.
According to Juno Cho, president of LG electronics, the company has entered into a partnership with ESS Technology to bring the best audio effects to LG V20 users. Robert Blair, president of ESS Technology remarked that the quad DAC will give users the experience of having a home audio system on their handsets. He added that his team was quite excited at the idea of their quad DAC technology being made available on the LG devices. LG has already sent out invites for the press event going to be held in San Francisco marking the launch. However, there is no information as of now when the gadget will actually be on the shelves.
Dimensions, Weight, Body Material and Design
Based on reports by Android Authority, the LG V20 is bound to be really slim with its size of 159.5 x 78.1 x 7.7mm. At the camera point alone, the thickness is marginally more at 8.8mm. There is no input on how much the smartphone will weigh. But speculations are that the handset will be a little heavy as it encompasses a metal body. The leaked images indicate that the device has a removable bottom. Some of these images also indicate the possibility of the back of the device being textured and patterned to offer a sturdy grip.
Screen Size and Display, Pixel Resolution and Density
Talks are that like the preceding V10 gadget, the LG V20 will sport two screens. There are two reports being made about the screen size with the pixel resolution varying accordingly for the primary or the larger screen at the top. One version is that the smartphone has a 5.7-inch screen with a pixel resolution of 1440 x 2560 and a pixel density of very close to 515ppi. On the other hand, the other declaration is that the screen is slightly smaller at 5.5 inches with a corresponding pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920. The pixel density in this case is unknown at the moment. The secondary smaller screen at the bottom will feature a size of 2.1 inches and a pixel resolution of 160 x 1040.
However, both statements agree on the fact that the screen will make use of the quad HD feature and utilize IPS LCD technology and will be protected from scratches by the Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Primary and Secondary Cameras
From the available images, the V20 resemble the LG G5 in the sense that it sports two primary cameras at the back. The bigger of these two snappers is a 20MP camera with LED flash and laser autofocus. This shooter also supports optical image stabilization to help you take decent shots in dim light. The shooter can record videos at 2160p and 1080p videos at 30 fps and 720p videos at 120 fps. The front snapper is an 8MP camera with a wide angle sensor for video chats and selfies.
Under the Hood
While Android Pit reports state that the smartphone has two variants with 3GB and 4GB RAM with corresponding 32 and 64GB internal storage, some other reports state the possibility of 4GB RAM with 32/64GB internal memory and 6GB RAM with 128GB built-in storage. Irrespective of these values, there is scope for additionally increasing the memory in the LG V20 by another 256GB. The handset will be loaded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, a quad core processor and an Adreno 530 graphics processor.
Breaking away from the norm that the latest Android updates will first be made available on Nexus handsets, the LG device takes the credit to be the first to introduce Android 7.0 Nougat into smartphones.
Battery and Battery Life
Even as the talk time and standby time rendered by the V20 are not known, it is expected that the handset will encompass a huge Li-ion 4,000 mAh battery.
