Apple is working on the release of the next iPhone to succeed last year’s iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The company is also expected to come in with MacBook Pro 2016 as well as MacBook Air 2016 laptops, but the latter has been less featured as far as recent rumors and news are concerned.
The dotted appearance of the MacBook Air 2016 in most of the leaks, rumors and speculations doing rounds regarding the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and MacBook Pro 2016 has even led to more speculations that the MacBook Air lineup could be headed to the grave. Apparently, Japanese website Mac Otakara claims that Cupertino will not come in with an 11-inch MacBook Air 2016 model. Instead, the iPhone maker will shift focus to the 13-inch and 15-inch models. However, this is only but a rumor that has not been confirmed yet.
The upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Air 2016 laptops will come with USB-C connectivity as well as Thunderbolt 3, replacing the older MagSafe, Type-A, and older Thunderbolt ports. Despite this affirmation, another report is adamant that Apple will kill the MacBook Air lineup completely and offer no new version this year. Alongside the news that the Air brand will be no more, the same report also adds that Apple will also ditch the iPad Air series.
Rather than release a new iPad Air 2016, Apple will instead come in with a new iPad Pro 2016. As for the MacBook Air 2016, we might only get to see a new MacBook Pro 2016 that is a lot thinner than what the Air offers, much more like the 12-inch MacBook.
As mentioned earlier, the iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro 2016 have seen quite a number of leaks come out, but there is really nothing significant showing up with respect to the MacBook Air 2016. This could be a strong indicator that the MacBook Air brand indeed coming to an end.
