Yesterday, Meizu Senior VP Li Nan had released a portrait shot with amazing blurring effect on his Weibo account. The image was shot using an unannounced mid-range Meizu phone. Without mentioning the name of the phone, Li Nan had revealed that this new phone would be launching on May 29.
Since the sample photo carried “Shot on 6T” watermark, the rumor mill started speculating that the handset could be launching as the Meizu 6T (or Meizu M6T since it is a Blue Charm device). Today, the official Weibo account of the company has confirmed that the handset will be indeed arriving as Meizu 6T.
Shown above is the official confirmation from Meizu that the Meizu 6T would be launching on May 29. The Chinese manufacturer is yet to confirm on the specifications and features of the phone. It is quite evident from the camera sample that was released yesterday, that it could be a selfie-centric smartphone. In the recent past, Li Nan has also hinted on the pricing of the phone by saying that its cost be almost same as that of a computer hard drive. This indicates that the Meizu 6T may cost around 999 Yuan ($156).
It is speculated that the Meizu M811Q smartphone that has been recently certified by TENAA agency in China will be debuting as the Meizu 6T. According to the TENAA listing, the M811Q phone features a 5.7-inch display that produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. There are multiple RAM and storage variants of the phone such as 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM, 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 16 GB storage + 2 GB RAM. These variants are powered by 1.5 GHz octa-core processor.
It has a selfie camera of 8-megapixel and the dual camera setup that resides on its back panel includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The handset receives power from 3,230mAh battery.
Oppo and Vivo are already selling numerous selfie-centric mid-tier phones in China. Xiaomi has also recently released the Redmi S2 as its first Redmi Selfie (Redmi S) series smartphone. Rumors have it that Meizu 6T could be the Meizu’s weapon to take on the likes of Redmi S2.
