A brand-new model, the MINI 1499 GT has been launched.
The limited-edition variant of the hatch will be an exclusive purchase for those who love the brand and would like to gain access to features that are not available in the conventional model.
Designed to be an ode to the original 1275 GT model from 1969, the newly launched 1499 GT acquires its name from the number of units to be produced. When they specify that it is a limited- edition model, the automobile manufacturer really mean it because only 1,499 units will be manufactured and sold to customers.
Deliveries begin in the month of November and will end by February, 2018. The limited-edition car has been priced at £16,990 in UK. The overall design and features of the car is largely based on the base MINI edition already available in the market. However, the special features are directly inspired by the John Cooper Works variant.
The special components that you would instantly notice in the new car include its large 17-inch Track Spoke black alloy wheels, bigger bumpers, side skirts and split-level spoiler. The windows are all tinted with a dark color and when everything is put together, it provides the exclusivity the MINI 1499 GT requires.

In terms of performance, the powertrain is pretty similar to the base model but has its own set of changes to make it more powerful and worthy to be an exclusive edition. The car is powered by a three-cylinder turbocharged engine capable of producing about 102 horsepower. According to the engineers, the car can zoom from 0 to 60 mph in just 10.1 seconds.
The best comfort and driving experience is provided by the rear suspension, disk brakes. The powertrain is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The special edition component is carried through the interior of the car which are integrated with JCW sport seats for maximum comfort and an enjoyable ride. They use perforated black leather which are appropriately accentuated with red stitching.
Some cool features that buyers immediately notice when they buy the MINI 1499 GT include the cruise control, MINI Connected system to connect smartphones, Visual Boost Radio and obviously the basic air conditioning system to keep the temperature under check. With a price tag of £16,990, the 1499 GT is a decent contender in the competitive hatch variant.
