Motorola is set to retain their position with the Moto G5 as leaked specifications confirmed it will be powered by a mid-range processor, the same as the one found in the more expensive Moto Z Play.
Every year Motorola makes sure they take hold of the entry level market with their Moto G phones. The trend began in 2013 when they first came to limelight by announcing the phone and probably it will continue in 2017 as well, if we are to go by the specifications. Importers usually post information of upcoming phones much earlier to its official announcement. The event takes place only when there is enough stock so that sales could open immediately after the reveal.
The import data available on P3DN leaked Moto G5 specifications. The phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor combined with Adreno 506 GPU. The model number is XT1685. While rumors are limited, it is not hard to guess other specifications of the phone. The designers can’t go beyond the 5.5-inch display to keep it user friendly.
Moto G5 will sport the same 5.5-inch display as found in other leaks and will have a 1920×1080 resolution. The HD display makes it easier to ensure better battery power as QHD will drain power fast. It is also rumored that the phone will have a 13 megapixel camera and obviously 3GB of RAM in the entry level model to make sure it can handle next gen apps. While we can guess many details based on Motorola’s previous models and their upgrade schedule, it is nearly impossible to know the battery capacity.
There is no need to simply increase the battery size but rather it should be optimized well enough to last longer. Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus already received Android 7.0 Nougat. The new phone will probably run on the same operating system but will have upgrade capability when Google announces a new Android once again towards the end of 2017.
The phone is expected to be announced and made available on March 8th according to a post on the Android Soul. The dates are speculated but do sound credible based on Motorola’s yearly announcement schedule. Pricing for Moto G5 is not available but it will surely be an affordable handset with mid-range specs for seamless mobility. People on a tight budget or looking for a reliable secondary phone usually love the G series from Moto.
