Moto X Family to get Android 7.0 Nougat in May, Nine Months after its Official Release

Moto X Play Android Nougat Update

Motorola has recently been on top of the game when it comes to fast Android software updates. It happened with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and just recently, the feat was repeated with Android 7.0 Nougat.

While the company has already made the new Android 7.0 Nougat update available for those using the Moto Z and Moto G4 handsets, the story is a little weird for those using the 2015 flagship family – the Moto X. According to the Lenovo-owned company, the Moto X will be updated to Android Nougat in May 2017, a whole nine months from the time the OS was first availed for Google Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X.

This is a huge problem for many out there. Many want companies to be fast when it comes to rolling out major software updates. However, when these updates come in with errors and bugs, we are the first to complain. If anything, Motorola wants to take nine months, but ensure that your Moto X device isn’t suffering from any issues after the update. But is this 9 months’ period realistic for a company whose operating system is the closest you can get to Google’s stock experience?

Despite Motorola’s desire to give its users an Android 7.0 Nougat software that is free from any bugs and errors, not all Moto X users will swallow this message politely. However, one thing that you should understand is that the Moto Z is now the flagship device and it is why the device already has the Nougat OS on board.

Users of the Moto Z in the U.S. have already received the new OS. But the story is not the same for all variants, with Verizon’s Moto Z Play reportedly set to wait for the OS until March, same as those using this phone from Germany.
