Moto X Play Android Nougat Update will be ready in two weeks’ time

Moto X Play Android Nougat Update

Just recently, we stumbled upon a report saying that Android Nougat will start rolling out to the Moto X Play as from this Q1 2017.

We’ll, according to new reports, the Moto X Play Android Nougat update will actually be ready by the time this January comes to a conclusion. This is great news for those who still own this device, which was released in August 2015.

Motorola is doing a great job with the latest Android Nougat update. In fact, the Lenovo-owned company has been good at doing this over the past year. The company led the way with Android Marshmallow updates and as it is, the OEM is not slowing down in any case. As noted, the Moto X Play is a 2015 handset, but the company has already rolled out the update to the likes of Moto Z and Moto G4, with the Moto Z Play having just begun beta testing.

With the Moto X Play joining the party, those using other variants of the Moto X series can begin bracing themselves for the same treat. This message came through Motorola’s German Twitter account. Given that software updates can sometimes be rolled out depending on regions, don’t be surprised if the same treat comes your way after this month. It is possible that the said timeframe could affect those in Germany and Europe in general, but nothing has been confirmed just yet.

As it is, the Moto X Play should start receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat any time this month. If anything, Motorola has only two weeks to deliver on this statement, but as usual, always expect changes to such dates.

Since other Motorola phones have been receiving Android 7.0 Nougat OTA, we expect the Moto X Play to receive the same update alongside the latest Android Security Patch. As noted, we are not sure when this update will start making it to the U.S., but we’ll be here to let you know when it does. Keep following us!
