A new HTC phone with model number HTC 2Q72XXX has surfaced on the Bluetooth SIG website. The details that have surfaced through the certification site reveals it will be a mid-range phone from the company.
HTC had launched only six phones in 2018. Among them, the HCT Desire 12 and Desire 12+ have the weakest specs compared to more powerful phones like HTC U11 Eyes, U12 Life, U12+ and Exodus 1. The Desire 12+ is fueled by Snapdragon 450 and the Desire 12 features MediaTek MT6739 SoC.
The newly spotted HTC phone has a model number of 2Q72XXX. Since the exact model number is not mentioned, it is difficult to guess on the identity of the smartphone. The smartphone carries support Bluetooth 4.2 and its Hardware Version is mentioned as MSM8940 which refers to the modest Snapdragon 435.
Till now, HTC has not used this chipset on any of its smartphones. Hence, the mysterious HTC phone will be arriving as the company’s first smartphone with Snapdragon 435 mobile platform. There is no other information available on the HTC 2Q72XXX smartphone.
So far, there has not been a single mid-range phone from the company this year. Hence, there is a possibility that the company might unveil it just before the end of this year to include the mysterious phone in its this year’s profile.
HTC has recently introduced Exodus 1 blockchain smartphone. Its shipments are expected to begin from next month. In September, reports had revealed that the Taiwanese company was testing a new smartphone with the unannounced 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset. This handset could be the company’s first phone to carry support for 5G connectivity. The handset may arrive as the successor of the HTC 12+ smartphone. However, there is no confirmation on whether it will be called HTC U13+ or it may carry a different moniker.
