Last year, Tom Henderson, an industry insider, claimed that the sequel to the Call of Duty Modern Warfare could be released along with a brand new Warzone map. There were also rumors about the single-player campaign of COD 2022 channelizing its energies towards fighting a drug war against a notorious cartel in Columbia.
As per Henderson, ‘Project Cortez’ is the working title of the next Call of Duty game. The 2019 edition of Modern Warfare came to an end with Cpt Price getting his forces in place and putting together Task Force 141.

While one has not received much details about this upcoming game, there is a good possibility of Infinity Ward trying to replicate many elements from 2019 Modern Warfare. It is also expected to be much darker than any of the games launched in the COD series so far.
Meanwhile, Activision Blizzard also confirmed the fact that the sales of Call of Duty Vanguard have declined significantly in recent times. The COD series, perhaps, is in need of fresh and innovative ideas.
