The LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 are without a doubt two of the most anticipated smartphones for this Q1 2017, but only one will be available for purchase by the end of March 2017.
While the LG G6 will be launching at the MWC 2017 event next week, Samsung Galaxy S8 will be launched on March 29 alongside its counterpart Galaxy S8+. By the time Samsung launches its flagships, LG will have already started selling the G6 in some markets, notably South Korea, with the U.S. expected to start shipping in early April.
The LG G6 has been a pretty leaky phone when compared to the Galaxy S8. In fact, the latest real images leaked are for the G6 and they give us the clearest view of the phone yet. From the looks, the G6 doesn’t appear as pretty as many would want it to be, or probably it is because the images don’t do it any justice. Nonetheless, the new images of the G6 have a lot in common with what has been going in rumor mills. The screen is rounded at the corners and so is the body of the phone, the bezels are thin and the back shows off a dual-lens camera and a fingerprint scanner that probably doubles as the power button.

In another separate leak by notable leaker Evan Blass, the LG G6 has been revealed alongside Samsung Galaxy S8, but this comes from accessory retailer UAG. The retailer has already listed cases for these two phones, giving out a fair deal of details regarding their design. The Galaxy S8 has four sensors right above the display screen – excluding the iris scanner and selfie camera. There is no physical home button like rumors have pointed out, but the Samsung logo still lives on, this time finding a new home on the bottom bezel.
It looks like Samsung will join LG in placing the fingerprint scanner on the back of the Galaxy S8, just beside the camera. There is an extra button on one side of the phone, also confirming the much-rumored Bixby AI assistant that is expected to debut with the phone.
None of these is official, but we should find out more details about the LG G6 in a week’s time. As for Samsung Galaxy S8, the wait is still a little longer, although there are rumors that Samsung could tease the phone at the MWC 2017. Let’s wait and see if this happens, meanwhile, keep following us and we’ll update you.
