Nokia has made an impressive comeback under the stewardship of HMD Global, another Finnish company that has since promised to push out timely software updates akin to the Google Nexus and Pixel family.
As far as monthly software updates are concerned, this is indeed happening, where the Nokia 6 has been seen receiving OTA updates well ahead of the Google Nexus and Pixel family. Whether this story will be the same when the upcoming Android O starts rolling out in the coming weeks is still unknown, but until then, those using the Nokia 3 can rest assured that the update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat will be rolled out before the end of August.
The Nokia 3 was unveiled at the MWC 2017 event in February and while a good number of markets has yet to see the phone in flesh, the company’s Chief Product Officer has taken to Twitter to confirm that the phone, which made its debut powered by Android 7.0 Nougat, will be updated to the newer version before the end of this coming month of August.
In his stamen, Juho Sarvikas did not mention a specific date as to when the Nokia 3 will be receiving the update, but given that we only have four weeks before August comes to an end, it won’t be long before the update starts rolling out – or rather before the full details come out.
Got a few questions on this so wanted to confirm that #Nokia3 will receive 7.1.1 update by end of August. @nokiamobile

The Nokia 3 Android 7.1.1 Nougat OTA update will be rolled out to all markets where the phone has already started selling. This should mean that even those that have yet to see the phone will start receiving the update once the phone is available for purchase.
Meanwhile, HMD Global is expected to unveil the high-end Nokia 8 before the end of August, probably on August 16 at an event in London. At the same event, the company will reportedly take the wraps off an entry-level Nokia 2 smartphone that will slip right below the Nokia 3, which is currently the entry-level offering from the Finnish companies.
