Nokia 6 is the first Android-powered smartphone from the company thanks to HMD Global, however, the phone will only be selling in China.
At the time of launch, the Nokia 6 did not receive an official release date or rather when it will start shipping, but it was noted that it will do so before this month comes to an end. Well, according to new reports just coming in, the phone will start shipping before the arrival of Chinese Lunar New Year, which happens on January 28th.
This news is coming from an official Nokia source, meaning there is a reason to smile about for all Nokia fans out there. It gets even more interesting as the Nokia 6 has reportedly passed TENAA certification with model number TA-1000.
Like the launch of the phone had confirmed, you are up against a midrange handset that tries to deliver the best in terms of specific specs. You get a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, a Snapdragon 430 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The back has a 16MP snapper and the front has an 8MP snapper. The battery unit is decent at 3000mAh and the phone is powered by Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. In terms of price, it is valued at CNY 1699, which equates to about $245.
While there are many people out there who might not be impressed with the Nokia 6 and what it brings, especially the Snapdragon 430 processor, the company has promised to come in with much better Nokia phones in future. On matters to do with using the Snapdragon 835 in any of its phones, the company said that the processor is still new and once it gets a device based on this processor ready, it will let the public know. In short, there is a Snapdragon 835 in the making.
Despite giving some hopes for the flagship Nokia phone with Snapdragon 835 SoC, there is no word on when this phone will indeed be announced. But with another mobile phone event coming soon – MWC 2017 to be held starting February 27th – we expect to see more details about the next Nokia phones to follow up the new Nokia 6.
