OnePlus 2 Gets OxygenOS 3.5.5

Ever since OnePlus 2 made its way into the market, the common grievance that the company faced from people world over is the lack of VoLTE connectivity.

In the following months, although the smartphone brought about many updates, VoLTE was not one of them. The good news is that the latest update announced by OnePlus for its handset is this functionality. However, only select carriers will be able to offer this much awaited connectivity.

Apart from the much awaited VoLTE support, the OnePlus 2 also has a few other interesting enhancements and features to offer. If you check under the More subsection under Battery in the Settings menu, you will find two new features – Battery Saving Mode and App Lock. There is another submenu under Settings that has undergone a change. A new Gaming Mode has been introduced under the Developer Options submenu. Also, the Alert Slider has many new options.

Other noteworthy new highlights include the update of the interface and OxygenOS UI to the 3.5.5 version. The UI of the clock app has also undergone a modification. The key change that the OxygenOS 3.5.5 update brings with it is an Android security patch for December. Other than this, system stability has been assured even more because of various bug enhancements and fixes.

You must bear in mind that if you have not updated the default clock, messages and calculator apps provided by Google; they will get replaced by the corresponding stock apps offered by OnePlus. However, after doing the update, you can always download the Google apps from Google without any problem. Another problem that you might encounter in your OnePlus 2 handset following the OxygenOS 3.5.5 upgrade is that most of the settings that you have made get reset to the factory settings. You will have to once again redo your preferences.

The OTA update is incremental as always, resulting in the update being available to only a limited number of users in the first day. Yet, this need not disappoint you because in the days to come, OnePlus will get the update across to a wider group of people on a daily basis.
