OnePlus 3T to Charge an Extra $80 for a Snapdragon 821 SoC Upgrade – What Else?

OnePlus 3T pricing

It is not the first time that rumors of a supposed OnePlus 3T are coming out. In fact, the story started when it was determined that OnePlus was running out of Optic AMOLED panels used on the OnePlus 3, but the company was quick to quash away these rumors, saying that it will keep on producing OnePlus handsets based on this screen technology.

Now, there is a new report about the same OnePlus 3T phone, which at some point was believed to be a OnePlus 3S or rather OnePlus 3 Plus. The new report adds some valuable details about the phone to what we already knew.

Despite all the assurances coming from OnePlus regarding the AMOLED screen panels, the report still maintains that the Chinese OEM is looking at a downgraded screen display – an LCD panel. On the contrary, the specs under the hood will receive a slightly upgrade, with the Snapdragon 820 dropped in favor of the newer and faster Snapdragon 821. Where the former can manage maximum speeds of up to 2.15GHz, the latter can go all the way up to 2.4GHz.

OnePlus 3 Nougat

According to Evan Blass, the rumored OnePlus 3T could come with a slightly higher price tag as compared to the $399 charged for the original OnePlus 3. Apparently, buyers will have to add an extra $80, hiking the price of the new OnePlus 3T to about $480. With this price hike, it is believed that OnePlus will make more changes than the previously mentioned processor upgrade and swap in display technology. Even though it is still too early to tell what some of these changes could be, don’t be surprised to see an improved screen resolution, a better camera, water resistance as well as the latest Android Nougat OS out of the box.

In China, the supposed OnePlus 3T with model number A3010 has already checked into the country’s regulatory agencies, an indicator that it could indeed be released before this coming festive season.
