OnePlus has plans to start selling the new OnePlus 3T as from this week Tuesday. This phone comes to succeed the OnePlus 3 and it brings a mild set of upgrades, however, this hasn’t deterred the company’s works on next year’s OnePlus 4.
Started in 2014, OnePlus has become a force to reckon in the smartphone industry in such a short period of time. OnePlus 4 will be the company’s fifth flagship and sixth phone overall thanks to last year’s release of OnePlus X midrange as a follow up to the OnePlus 2.
It seems the company is ready to roll out two devices per year, but all could be flagships as we have witnessed this year. If you can wait for a few months, probably to June 2017, a new OnePlus 4 will be amongst us. A Weibo leak has come in with a massive specs leak that confirms the phone to indeed be a beast.
The rumor suggests that OnePlus 4 will carry the newer Snapdragon 835, a processor that was recently confirmed by Samsung and Qualcomm to be the fastest and most energy-efficient version of the Snapdragon series. Although more of it is not expected until the CES 2017, OnePlus 4 will be one of the devices the processor will power in the year 2017.
With this year’s OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T carrying 6GB RAM, the same leak says that next year’s OnePlus 4 will carry two RAM options – a 6GB RAM variant and an 8GB RAM model. Probably this will eliminate the need for the tech giant to come in with two variants of the same phone that are separated by just five months.
The story doesn’t end there, though, as the leak suggests a drop in screen size from 5.5 inches to 5.3 inches, but the good side of the story is that the smaller display screen of the rumored OnePlus 4 will boast a QHD resolution – a first for the company. Furthermore, the all-metal design will be dropped as the body will also include glass, meaning the 4000mAh battery onboard could add wireless charging to the company’s proprietary Dash Charge technology.
The leaked image also confirms that OnePlus 4 will come with a dual-lens camera with support for augmented reality and mixed reality. But there is no word on the size of lenses to be included. As for the storage, the flagship will retain the 128GB storage introduced on the OnePlus 3T and Android 7.1 Nougat is expected on board.
As usual, OnePlus 4 should be priced below $500, especially since the latest OnePlus 3T is valued at $479 for the high-end variant of 128GB.
