A while back OnePlus opened the Android Oreo beta program for OnePlus 3 and 3T and in fact, the two recently received their third beta update, drawing them even closer to the stable version.

Even though we don’t have a specific date as to when OnePlus will start rolling out the stable version of Oreo to OnePlus 3 and 3T, the Chinese OEM has just talked up the expected launch and release dates for Android Oreo open beta and stable version for the OnePlus 5, which was unveiled in June 2017.

During the launch of the OnePlus 5T, a phone that comes in as the immediate successor to the OnePlus 5 and official successor to last year’s OnePlus 3T, the company announced that the OG OnePlus 5 will receive its first Android Oreo open beta this month. In addition, the company also mentioned that the stable version of the same OS will be ready for release in early 2018, which is not so different from what happened with Nougat for OnePlus 3 and 3T users, although the first units received the update on the final day of 2016.

OnePlus 5 is without a doubt a fan favorite and with the news that Oreo will be out this month, many will indeed be delighted to see the phone get the new OS. It came as a surprise when OnePlus launched the open beta for OnePlus 3 and 3T and left out the 5, but today, we finally have an official timeline of when to expect Oreo.

As you may have noticed, there are no specific dates as to when these two updates will be rolled out to OnePlus 5 handsets. However, you can be sure that it won’t be long before the open beta goes live – because we only have two weeks left this month.
