With June just a few weeks away, rumors of OnePlus 5 are flying around from all angles as the company gets ready to replace the highly successful OnePlus 3 that was released in June 2016.
There has been too much talk about the upcoming OnePlus 5, whether it’s about the name, specs, design and even the potential release date, however, the Chinese OEM has remained silent on the matter. Nonetheless, this silence hasn’t stopped rumors and leaks from coming in and the latest are courtesy of China’s Oppomart, a leading retailer in the country.
Apparently, the retailer has already listed the OnePlus 5 on its website and with it comes the alleged specs as well as price of the phone. If this retailer is to be believed – which you actually shouldn’t – the OnePlus 3T successor will be priced at $449, which is just $10 above the $439 price tag of the 3T. There’s also an image of the phone, but this is just a dummy that we’ve already seen in leaks, which adds more weight to the fact that this could be a fake publication.
Recently, a rumor came in suggesting that the OnePlus 5 will have a horizontal dual-lens camera setup as opposed to the vertical arrangement depicted on Oppomart. As for the technical specs, the listing claims that the flagship killer will debut a QHD display resolution on a 5.5-inch screen and under the hood, there will be a Snapdragon 835 SoC clocked at 2.45GHz and paired with a 6GB RAM and two USF 2.1 storage options of 64GB and 128GB.
The listing also adds that the dual-lens camera on the back will ship with two 12MP sensors while the front will ditch the 16MP lens used on the OnePlus 3T in favor of an 8MP shooter, similar to what appeared on the original OnePlus 3. The fingerprint scanner will remain front-mounted and to keep it alive will be a 3580mAh battery unit, which is close to the 3600mAh unit that had been touted before today. You also get support for Dash Charge 2.0 technology. If the listing is to be believed, OnePlus 5 will start shipping in early June.
In a separate leak, an alleged “About Phone” page of the same OnePlus 5 phone has just appeared online, showing off a massive 8GB RAM of the phone. This screenshot also claims that this 8GB RAM variant will ship with 128GB storage alongside the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box. This model should be the Chinese variant as the screenshot also shows that a HydrogenOS skin will be on top of the stock Android OS instead of OxygenOS, which usually appears in the international models.
Be warned that these are just rumors and as such, you ought to take them with a grain of salt, at least until OnePlus comes out to clear the air.
