To be honest, not so many people have been asking whether OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive the new Android O update when time comes. What has actually been happening is OnePlus 2 users have been asking when or if they’ll ever receive the update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
The OnePlus 2 was released in mid-2015 and since the device is still under two years old as at the time of this writing – and it was even younger back in August 2016 when Android 7.0 Nougat was released – it was perceived as an obvious thing for the device to be updated to the new software version. But it has turned out to be a nightmare for those using this phone as it appears the Chinese OEM is doing little to confirm its availability.
Despite all the uncertainties surrounding the Nougat update for OnePlus 2 users, the CEO of the company Pete Lau has taken to Twitter to assure owners of OnePlus 3 and 3T that they’ll receive the update to Android O. Even though there’s no mention of dates, it’s paramount that owners of this phone keep in mind that there was an almost similar promise made back in June 2016 regarding the Nougat update for OnePlus 2 – an update that is still not out just yet.
A lot of you have been asking, so I'm proud to say Android O will come to OnePlus 3 and 3T.

But given the massive following of the OnePlus 3 and 3T, it might be hard for OnePlus to turn a blind eye on these two. As for the OnePlus 2, the performance in the market wasn’t the best, which could be why the company sees no reason to pour resources into the phone’s software development.
OnePlus 3 and 3T were able to join up the Nougat beta program at some point before the stable version came out. While CEO Lau confirmed that Android O will be coming to these two devices, he didn’t mention a thing regarding whether there’s a beta program for O in the pipes. However, this could indeed be the case.
