Qualcomm Confirms Arrival of OnePlus 3T with Snapdragon 821

OnePlus 3T Arrival

Qualcomm has confirmed that the OnePlus 3T could soon be launched by the Chinese manufacturer and that the device comes with the latest snapdragon 821 processor on-board.

It has been rumored for quite a while that OnePlus has been working on a new version of the OnePlus 3 so as to overcome lack of availability of AMOLED panels in large numbers. It has been suggested that the display shortage was a major factor in the unavailability of OnePlus 3 in great numbers especially in the United States, where customers have been forced to wait as long as 14 days for a device.

However, OnePlus recently confirmed that display panel shortage was not the reason behind the company working on a new model, which will be sold alongside the OnePlus 3. Considering that the latter came out only a few months ago, it seems surprising that OnePlus has decided to come out with the OnePlus 3T. This model will come with a snapdragon 821 processor, which offers a marginal improvement in power and efficiency compared to the outgoing snapdragon 820 model. The real reason for coming out with this new phone may be the rumored 6-inchscreen.

This would enable OnePlus to take advantage of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 being absent from the markets, although the OnePlus 3 with its 5.5-inch display is not far behind. It remains to be seen if OnePlus will come with a special technology on the OnePlus 3T just like it did with the OnePlus 3 through aspects like the dash charging. Other elements of the phone remain hidden apart from the use of a Sony sensor for the 16-megapixel camera. The megapixel count may remain similar, but this sensor is likely to equip the device with excellent imaging capabilities.

One of the few areas where the OnePlus 3 loses out to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the other smartphones in the $700 price category is in imaging. Managing to find a workaround this issue seems to have been achieved on the OnePlus 3T. Customers, however, will have to pay additional for this new model, as it is expected to come with an $80 premium over the standard version. Hence, the phone is expected to come around $480. Even then, it looks extremely attractive compared with the smartphones costing more than 50% as it has almost all the higher end features one could expect in 2016.
