Redmi K50 Pro+ is Tipped to Feature Snapdragon 898 SoC and 108MP Camera

Redmi K40 Pro+ might launch early next year with Snapdragon 898 SoC, 108MP main camera, and more features.

Redmi K50 flagship smartphone series is reportedly in the works, which is rumored to launch early next year. The Chinese smartphone giant is expected to offer 3 models under the K50 series – Redmi K50, K50 Pro, and K50 Pro+. While we wait for an official announcement, a Weibo tipster has revealed the key specifications of the top-end model, Redmi K40 Pro+.

According to Chinese tipster Bald Panda, the K50 Pro+ will be driven by the yet-to-be-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 flagship chipset. The device is said to flaunt an AMOLED display with a centered punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. It is tipped to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and is likely to support a 120Hz refresh rate.

Redmi K50 Pro+ may come with a 108MP triple camera setup at its back. The camera island might also include a periscope/telephoto camera. The battery is tipped to come in at 5,000mAh. Redmi K50 Pro+ is rumored to carry support for 67W fast charging.

Another tipster on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo revealed that the regular Redmi K50 could be driven by the Snapdragon 888 chipset, the same SoC is used in K40 Pro. According to the tipster, the K50 will feature triple rear cameras with 64MP Ominivison OV64B primary sensor.

The un-announced Snapdragon 898 chipset is likely to be announced at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021 which is scheduled to happen between Nov 30 – Dec 2. It will be the fastest Qualcomm mobile chipset, and Xiaomi could be the first brand to launch a new phone with the new chipset.

Redmi has not yet confirmed the arrival of the K50 series. However, it is expected to launch in early next year, given that the K40 series was launched around the same time. Hopefully, we will get to know more about the phones in the coming weeks.
