Users of Moto Z and the G4 lineup can prepare themselves to receive the new Android 7.0 Nougat update on their phones from the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year.
Nougat from 4th Quarter
Most phone manufacturing companies are quite slow in releasing the updated version of Google’s new operating system. Motorola has still not talked about its plans for releasing support for the new Nougat update for Moto Z and the G4 lineup of phones. Droid Life contacted the company and Motorola has confirmed that users of the phone will be able to access Nougat for the G4 phones and the Moto Z family from the beginning of the 4th quarter this year.
4th Quarter to Begin soon
The fourth quarter of the fiscal year begins in a few days and will end on 31st December. Motorola seems to have made a straightforward commitment, promising users that they can expect the new update from the beginning of Q4. However, the statement issued by the company spokesman is not that clear after all. Does the statement mean that the Z series and the G4 family of phones will get the new Android 7.0 update in the beginning of the fourth Quarter or within the 4th Quarter or at the end of the 4th Quarter?
Uncertainty in Statement
There is another aspect that is quite uncertain in Motorola’s comment. The spokesperson has not made it clear whether the new update will be available for other Moto mobile phones and devices, such as the Moto X and the Moto G series. The company has only offered consolation to users that upgrades will be available and the performance of the phones will continue to remain as good as possible.
Even earlier this year, in July, there was some controversy in the company when it confirmed that the Moto Z and the G4 phones would not get their security patch. The argument was that it proved to be more efficient to group the updates together with a reduction in the number of releases. Earlier in February, the company had broken the promise of bringing the Lollipop version of the Google OS for Droid Ultra, the Maxx ad the Mini mobile sets. The history of the company seems to be alarming, so only time can tell whether this statement regarding the release of Nougat in the Q4 of the year is actually true or not.
Android 7.0 Availability
As for the present, only the Nexus devices have received the new 7.0 update of Android, but it seems that Samsung is making preparations for releasing the new software update for its S7 and its S7 Edge phones and devices. Also, LG has confirmed that the new LG V20, its flagship phone, will have the new Nougat update out of the box.
The frequent woes of Android users are that even the top-of-the-line devices take a lot of time to get the latest Google updates. Companies, including Motorola, regularly make press releases and statements promising support for the new update, but the dates provided are vague and their commitment cannot be guaranteed.
