Report: Samsung to Launch the Galaxy Tab S3 on September 1

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

In April, Samsung rolled out an upgrade to its Galaxy Tab S2, an update that saw a new processor come into play but leaving the rest of the spec sheet as it is on the original Tab S2.

Surprisingly, Samsung did not even change the name of its revised Galaxy Tab S2, perhaps suggesting that a newer version and an official successor to the high-end tablet is in the works. Well, according to a new report coming from a prominent journalist from Russia by the name of Eldar Murtazin, there is a new Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 in the works and it will be announced on the first day of September.

Apparently, the leaked details are still fuzzy as Murtazin has not come out with any clear proof of the alleged Galaxy Tab S3. In addition, there is basically no other evidence that is pointing towards this device’s release in two months’ time. Of course, leaks and rumors won’t be inevitable, but they won’t be enough to suggest that the tablet will indeed be here on the said date.

With the tablet world being infested by phablets, the Samsung world has its eyes glued on the release date of the Galaxy Note 7, with the launch date set for August 2. With this in mind, it might not be easy for the company to get the sales of the Galaxy Tab S3 up and running against the Note 7.

Despite all these, if indeed it is announced on September 1, the Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to be a major upgrade over both sets of the Galaxy Tab S2. The latest Galaxy Tab S2 comes with a Super AMOLED display screen of 2048 by 1536 pixels and under the hood, you get a 64-bit Snapdragon 652 SoC, which is an enhancement over the Exynos 5433 used in the original Tab S2. This SoC is paired with a RAM of 3GB and onboard storage of 32GB, which can also be expanded via a microSD card. You also get things like Bluetooth, dual-band Wi-Fi, and a fingerprint scanner.

The tablet comes preinstalled with the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and in terms of cameras, you get a decent 8MP main snapper and 2.1MP on the front. While the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 has two variants – Wi-Fi only and LTE – the Tab S2 8.0 only comes with an LTE variant.
