While the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge units started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update about two months ago, it is only a few weeks ago that we started seeing glimpses of the same as far as carrier variants are concerned.
The likes of Vodafone, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon Wireless have already rolled out the latest Android 7.0 Nougat to both Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. In fact, Vodafone is already doing the same as far as Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are concerned, but as you know, this carrier is dominant in Europe.
There’s even more good news for those in Canada as the country’s Rogers carrier has confirmed the release date of the same OS to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Apparently, the OS will be ready for download as from March 20, which is just a week away. The company has updated its official OS upgrades schedule with the details, something that should leave many in the community happy.
In the U.S., carrier variants started receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat in mid-February, which means it has taken Rogers a month later, but it’s always better late than never. The update, like others, is expected to bring the latest monthly security update to Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, possibly for this month. This should be the case because devices that were updated last month subsequently received February’s monthly security patch along with the Nougat treat.
Rogers has been running tests of the OS on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge for weeks now and finally, the OS will be here soon. Hopefully, nothing will go wrong and this date sticks, but we’ll be here to notify you about any changes in plans, just in case of any. With Android 7.0 Nougat on board, you can expect things like a new UI, Doze mode, redesigned notifications, enhanced performance and so much more.
