It is rumored that the Snapdragon 835 powering the Samsung S8 is more powerful when compared to the A10 powering Apple’s iPhone 7.
Samsung Devours Apple
Samsung seems to be on the verge of devouring Apple, when it releases its flagship device, the S8, in February 2017. The AnTuTu benchmark suggests that the Snapdragon 835 chipset that will power the successor of the S7, namely the S8, will easily overpower the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus processor, the A10, as far as the total performance is concerned.
AnTuTu Benchmarks
The said benchmark has offered results after testing the latest Qualcomm Snapdagon, 835 processor. The new chipset on the S8 is produced with the 10nm processor and has scored 181,434 on the said benchmark. This score is considered quite high and is more than the score on the same benchmark acquired by the A10, which was lower at 172,644, according to PhoneArena. The score is based on the performance of both the processors, so it is likely that Samsung Galaxy’s S8 might reign over the market, thereby snatching the crown from the current ruler Apple.
Octa Core Processors
AndroidPure states that the AnTuTu rating for the 835 chipset was made for the prototype device of 5.9 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560. It has a RAM of 4 GB and an internal memory of 64 GB. This device is a high end one that runs on the latest Android software, the Nougat 7.0. Another interesting aspect about this new chipset is that it will be an octa core one and not a quad core one, like the predecessor, the Snapdragon 821.
Debuting on the S8
The new Snapdragon 835 will debut with the S8 to be released in the early part of 2017. The XiaomiMi 6 is also tipped off to be another device that will also use this powerful chip. There are also some other smartphones in the making that will use this Snapdragon chipset, but they have not yet been confirmed or revealed.
Samsung’s Payback Time
Samsung has made a smart move in getting the 835 chipset for the flagship S8 phone, especially after the disaster of the Note 7. It seems to be payback time for Samsung, as the S7 had been overshadowed by the iPhone 7 of Apple, due to the A10 processor on the latter.
A10 Processor Overpowered
Back in October, it was reported in Forbes by Linley Gwennap from the Linley Group reported in Forbes that that the A10 chipset was the most powerful one in the market, blowing out the competition. According to Gwennap, the performance of the chipset offered Apple power over the competition using other CPUs, such as the one used in the S7. However, it seems likely that all this is about to change with the new Snapdragon 835 chipset, which is said to be the most powerful one. It might blow away the A10 chip when it is introduced with the S8 in February 2017.
