Samsung is preparing a refresh of the Samsung Galaxy A5 for the 2017 calendar year.
Leaked pictures of the phone have been doing the rounds in the last few days. Even though Samsung were quick to remove any sensitive content, they have not been completely successful. The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) looks set to arrive in the next few weeks, and it will provide Samsung with a healthy competition of phones just behind the Samsung Galaxy S7.
Just like in the past, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 in terms of styling. Some clear indicators that it is a mid-range device and not the top end Samsung phone are visible from aspects like the lack of a heart rate sensor in the rear, and the rear camera being in unison with the back cover of the device. The leaked user interface pictures also showed that the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is likely to come with the new Grace UX.
Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) seems to be a model build for the future since it comes with a USB Type-C port and not the traditional microUSB. With more and more manufacturers opting for this new technology, it is not surprising to see Samsung adopt this element as well but to see a phone priced lower than the Galaxy S7 offer this element is healthy. MicroUSB is clearly history and the USB Type-C ports are here to stay.
All is not great on the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), as the device only comes with a side firing speakers. At a time when even bottom firing speakers are not well-received, one can be sure that these side firing speakers will not be a great aspect of the device. The front facing speakers located either side of the touch screen are probably the best way to experience multimedia on a smartphone.
In terms of internal specifications, the phone is expected to come with a 5.2 inch display with 1080p resolution. It will be powered by a Exynos 7870 chipset with eight cores. As more and more smartphones are doing away with the 16 GB internal memory option, a phone as new as the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) might also do away with this element and offer 32 GB as standard. The amount of RAM, however, is expected to remain around the 3 GB figure in order to keep the costs low.
