Samsung Galaxy A5 2018 leaks out showing off an ‘Infinity Display’ design with on-screen buttons and dedicated Bixby button

Samsung Galaxy A5 2018

Two weeks ago, leaked images of Samsung Galaxy A5 2018 appeared online showing off the rear section of the phone that is expected to be unveiled in the next few weeks.

The images were a huge contrast to what had appeared back in August, where the alleged Galaxy A5 2018 had leaked without a dual rear camera. Now, in fresh images of alleged renders of the phone, we not only have full views of the rear panel, but also a clear view of what to expect on the front panel of the phone.

Apparently, the new Samsung Galaxy A5 2018 will debut with an Infinity Display, same as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. From the leaked render, the phone has a display screen with very small bezels at the top and bottom. However, unlike the Galaxy S8 and Note 8, the display screen is not curved on the edges, rather, it takes a design that similar to the Galaxy S8 Active or rather LG G6 or Google Pixel 2 XL for that matter. In short, the screen is flat with rounded corners and like the S8 and Note 8, there’s no physical home button.

The new Samsung Galaxy A5 2018 is expected to ship with model number SM-A530, but the official launch date is still unknown. This year, the Galaxy A 2017 family was announced in January, but it’s possible we could see an early launch for the Galaxy A 2018 family.

Even though this is still a rumor, it will be interesting to see Samsung keep on pushing some of its high-end features to the midrange family of phones. Earlier this year, we saw the Galaxy A 2017 family debut with premium metal and glass designs alongside IP68 certification – features that the company has always reserved for its high-end lineup. Not so long ago, we also saw LG do the same, launching the LG Q6 family that shares the same display design with the LG G6, but comes with budget specs and features.

If the Galaxy A5 2018 is getting this design, it’s also possible that the Galaxy A7 2018 and Galaxy A3 2018 will take the same direction, but considering the significant gap the company has created between the former two and the entry-level Galaxy A3, it’s possible that the latter’s 2018 variant will stick to a single-lens camera while the other two will join the Galaxy Note 8 in rocking a dual-lens camera on the back. The renders also suggest that the phone will come with a dedicated Bixby button.

In terms of specs, reports suggest that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A5 2018 will be powered by an Exynos 7885 SoC mated with 4GB RAM, 32GB of expandable storage and Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, same as the Galaxy A7 2018. While there have been claims that the A5 2018 will also rock a dual-lens selfie camera, the leaked image doesn’t back this rumor.
