Samsung Galaxy Android 7.0 Nougat Update Confirmed for All Devices – and the Release Dates

Android Nougat Update

Samsung has the largest number of Android devices in the market right now, but very few have got Android 7.0 Nougat OS running the show.

In fact, it is only Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge that are currently installed with this 2016 Android OS, but the rest are yet to start receiving the OS. We have seen the likes of Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 make appearances at the Wi-Fi Alliance with Android 7.0 Nougat on board. Even though this confirms that the update will be headed to the two devices, the dates are not specific. Furthermore, these are the only devices that can rest assured that the Nougat treat will come their way.

Those who own low-end and midrange Samsung Galaxy A, Galaxy C and Galaxy J devices are still unsure of whether this update will come their way. But thanks to a new listing by Samsung Turkey, we can now be sure of the Galaxy devices that Samsung will be updating to Android 7.0 Nougat as well as the expected release date, at least for the Turkish or rather European market. One interesting bit about this roadmap is the fact that Samsung Galaxy J5 2015 is included, an indicator that this low-end phone will at some point receive Android 7.0 Nougat.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will start receiving the Nougat treat in the last week of this month while Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will follow up starting March 6. Those using the larger Galaxy S6 Edge+ can expect the OS on and after March 13. The list also confirms that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 will not be updated to the new Android 7.0 Nougat OS, which is not strange considering their age. The two were launched in 2014.

Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 (SM-A310F) and Galaxy A8 (SM-A800F) will lead the way for midrangers with an expected release date of April 24. About a month later, on May 22, Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 (SM-A510F), Galaxy A7 2016 (SM-A710F) and Galaxy A8 (SM-A800I) start receiving the OS. These will also be joined by the refreshed Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T818) on May 15 while the Tab S2 (SM-T817) variant will join the party a week later starting May 23. The next update will have to wait for more than a month, coming in on the July 13 and 19 and directed to the Galaxy Tab A with Pen (SM-P580) and Galaxy Tab A (SM-T587), respectively.

On the last day of July, four more devices will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat and these include Samsung Galaxy A3 (SM-A320F), Galaxy A5 (SM-520F), Galaxy A7 (SM-A720F) and Galaxy J7 2016 (SM-J710FQ).

Samsung Galaxy Android 7.0 Nougat Update

There will only be a single device updated in the months of August and September – Samsung Galaxy J7 (SM-J700F) and Galaxy J5 2016 (SM-J510FQ). These two will receive the Nougat treat on August 28 and September 18, respectively. The last three are Samsung Galaxy J5 (SM-J500F), Galaxy On7 (SM-G600F) and Galaxy J7 Prime (SM-G610F). These will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat on October 1, October 31 and November 15, respectively.

Keep in mind that this list has been published on the official support page of Samsung Turkey website, which means that all other regions with the mentioned devices will also receive the update to Android 7.0 Nougat. However, the dates will definitely vary from region to region, but as far as the European market is concerned, the mentioned dates may also apply to markets outside Turkey, although this is not a guarantee.

Samsung Galaxy A3 2017, Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A7 2017 are not included on the list, but these are without a doubt going to be part of the update alongside the incoming Samsung Galaxy C and Galaxy J series.
