The latest smartphone from AT&T has been announced and it’s the Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 edition.

The cellular operator announced the phone’s specifications, pricing and the plans under which it will be made available for their subscribers in the United States.

The Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 edition will also launch in other parts of the world and based on the region, it will be a completely unlocked, affordable smartphone for the buyers. The phone looks very premium in the photos posted on the site even though it’s pricing is designed to be appealing to the budget conscious buyers. It is already available for Sprint customers in the U.S. The company identifies the phone as Galaxy S3 Emerge.

A decent looking 5-inch display adorns the front area which sports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It is an IPS panel and should have great viewing angles. Under the shell, the phone is powered by a Samsung Exynos 7570 1.4 GHz quad core processor which is paired with the Mali T720 graphics processor for your basic gaming needs. It has a very irksome 1.5GB of RAM which is too low to handle even if you have a dozen apps open. But, budget phones always make compromises.

Samsung could have at least used 2GB of RAM to keep the phone functional when multiple apps are open but all you get is a 1.5GB RAM combined with 16GB of internal storage space and it also supports microSD cards up to 128GB. The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box which is great news because Samsung has a long running tradition of slow roll out of latest OS versions. Users don’t have to wait for it when they buy the Galaxy J3 2017 from AT&T.

The rear side of the phone is dominated by a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash while the front selfie camera is 2 megapixels. It is definitely not going to make any groundbreaking photos but should get the job done when you want to capture something in a hurry. The phone has 4G LTE connectivity, Wifi, Bluetooth and has a 2,600 mAh battery that should last a day on moderate usage.

The Silver colored version of the Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 from AT&T costs $179.99 outright but you can get it for just $6 per month if you agree to signup for the 30-month contract under AT&T’s policy.
