When it comes to matters of user experience, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are without a doubt the best you have in the smartphone market. However, you’ll all agree with us that the new Samsung Galaxy S8 has got everything when it comes to the looks.
What Samsung has actually done with the Galaxy S8 is to set the standards in the flagship smartphone market as far as design is concerned. For a long time, Google has been setting the standards when it comes to the software experience, but the company’s first attempt into the hardware market hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The Google Pixel phones have a great build that is robust enough to survive almost conditions. Most of the credit here goes to the metallic material of the body, but the phone has a glass part on the back that can easily catch scratches or even crack with minimal impact. While the Google Pixel 2 is not expected to take the same direction as the Galaxy S8 and ship with an almost all-glass design, the search engine giant can for sure take some inspiration from this newly created concept thanks to Concept Creator.
According to the enthusiastic designer, the Google Pixel 2 will definitely be the phone to beat this year. While Samsung has the best design, top-notch hardware specs, and flagship features, this concept also confirms that Google can come in with its own unique offerings that will beat the hell out of the S8 and any other competition aimed at it, including the iPhone 8.
The metallic edges are still visible, but the finish looks even more premium with its beautiful glass back compared to the current Pixel phones. Internally, the phone is expected to match the Galaxy S8, coming in with a Snapdragon 835 SoC that is paired with at least 6GB RAM, however, the developer of the concept wishes to see the Pixel 2 debut with a bigger 5.6-inch AMOLED display screen that has a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 on top and a QHD resolution. Like the Galaxy S8 and LG G6, Concept Creator’s dream is to see a display screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
It gets even better when talking about the cameras. With the dual-lens camera craze all over the smartphone industry, the concept also wishes that the Google Pixel 2 should come with a dual-lens 12MP setup on the back with f/1.7 aperture and no bump, features that will help the phone go head to head with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which is rumored to come in with a dual-lens camera setup. The concept video also reveals a dual-lens camera setup on the front, but there’s no mention of the exact specs of the lenses to be used.
In terms of storage, the Google Pixel 2 will keep the current storage options of 32GB and 128GB, but this time a 64GB variant should also join the party, just like it happened with the Google Nexus 6P. The fingerprint scanner will keep its place on the back of the phone, just below the cameras and due to the glass back, the Pixel 2 is also expected to come with support for fast wireless charging, similar to the Galaxy S8.
Note that this is just an imagination of what the Google Pixel 2 could look like and not exactly the real Pixel 2 from Google. As a result, don’t be too quick to believe that is what Google is working on, but it would indeed be our pleasure to see such a Pixel 2 phone come to life later this year. How about you?
