Samsung is ready with a series of new 2018 Galaxy J3 models for US after they recently launched their flagships, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
The Galaxy J3 2018 series was spotted today in the WiFi Alliance website and not so surprisingly, the phone will get launched under different names and model numbers with various U.S. carriers.
Varying Model Numbers and Names
Just like last year’s J3 2017, Galaxy J3 2018 will also go with multiple names and varying model numbers in 2018 depending on the carriers. The model numbers as seen in the WFA website and the different variants confirmed that it might share the same specifications yet go with varying names.
T-Mobile: Galaxy J3 Prime (2018) [SM-J337T]
Last year, T-Mobile’s Galaxy J3 Prime 2017 version had model number as SM-J327T so this year it would be SM-J337T.
AT&T: Galaxy Express Prime 3 [SM-J337A]
AT&T sold the phone SM-J327A as Galaxy Express Prime 2 so this year’s version would be named Express Prime 3.
Cricket: Galaxy Amp Prime 3 [SM-J337AZ]
SM-J327AZ belonged to Cricket and was sold in the name of Amp Prime 2. This year’s J337AZ can be expected to be named as Amp Prime 3.
Cricket: Galaxy Sol 3 [SM-J336AZ]
The Wi-Fi certification has one more listing with the model number SM-J336AZ. Since the model number has ‘AZ’, it can be confirmed that it belongs to Cricket Wireless. Digging in to find last year’s Cricket variant SM-J326AZ resulted in a model called Galaxy Sol 2. As this year’s model number is SM-J336AZ, we can expect it to be named something like Galaxy Sol 3.
Android 8.0 Oreo for all Samsung J3 Models
With improved hardware specifications, the Samsung J3 2018 variant which is about to get launched under different names will all run on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box. It should offer a seamless experience for users without having to wait for an upgrade.
A confirmed launch date is not known yet but considering the fact that it’s got the necessary certification, it should be a short wait before the official announcement is made.
