Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime gets Android 7.0 Nougat OTA

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime

In 2016, Samsung followed the release of the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 with the release of the Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy J7 Prime.

The two pairs of phones come preinstalled with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but one month ago, the Korean tech company rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat updates to users of the Galaxy J7 2016 and Galaxy J7 Prime in India.

Now, it appears that the same market is receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat on Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime. Unlike the previous update, there’s still no word on when the same update will be released for the Galaxy J5 2016.

Similar to other Nougat updates, users of the Galaxy J5 Prime will also get features such as a new Samsung Experience user interface, firmer app permissions, enhanced notifications, advanced battery saving tools, improved multi-window experience, better usability of notifications and Quick Settings as well as a new Dual Messenger feature that allows users to sign into more than one account on an app such as WhatsApp.

According to Sam Mobile, this update has just started rolling out and as usual with OTA updates, not all Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime users will receive the notification today. It may take time before all units are updated, perhaps days or even weeks. However, you can try doing a manual update via Settings>About device>Download updates manually. Before you install the update, make sure your phone’s battery is at least 50%, otherwise, keep it connected to a power source.

The update comes with software version G570FXXU1BQI6 and weighs 1066.76MB, so make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection.
