Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 Marshmallow Release News

Android 7.0 Nougat

Samsung has already availed Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for both 2014 flagships – Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5.

Despite Samsung playing its part in availing the update to these aging devices, carriers have delayed rolling out the same update to users of these devices in timely fashion. At the moment, it can be guaranteed that those using Samsung Galaxy Note 5 as well as the Galaxy S6 series have already received Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS update on their devices. However, the same cannot be said of 2014’s devices.

If you are in Canada and subscribed to Telus network carrier, there is some great news for you here. Even though Telus has not started the official rolling out of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 units, it has made the dates of when this process will begin known to the public. One problem with this Canadian carrier is sudden changes in its update schedule. It has happened before and who knows, it may also happen.

Nevertheless, the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow will start hitting Telus’ Samsung Galaxy S5 units as from next week Monday. This is great news for those still hanging onto this 2014 flagship. The update has already come to the U.S., with carriers such as Sprint having already availed the OS to its users.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5

On the side of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users, the Canadian carrier has scheduled the phablet to receive the update as from May 16. This means those using this phablet will still have to do some waiting before they can finally start enjoying the goodies of Marshmallow.

In addition to coming in with new features such as new apps permissions, Doze mode as well as Google Now on Tap, those using any of these two devices will also be treated to the latest monthly Android security updates.

You can check out the official Telus website for more details about when to expect Android 6.0 Marshmallow for your Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5 and other devices that are compatible with the operating system.

  1. AT&T… Thank you for participating with Samsung and google in making the note 4 suck for so long with lollipop. The only thing you do well is cell service coverage area, everything else feels like a lack of anyone behind the wheel. You three are why apple does a better job at managing the operating system on all devices.

  2. ha ha, why would anyone wait for their carrier to update their phone? if you want marshmallow, just install it

    1. Because att locks their bootloaders!!! There’s no root available…unfortunately if you want to root, its one of the most secure phones

  3. I have marshmallow on my note 4 and I hate it. Phone’s not as smooth, it’s slow and laggy all the time now! If I could remove marshmallow I would go back to what was on here before!
