Android 7.0 Nougat has been gaining momentum lately, with many 2015 devices now joining the party via software updates.
According to a new report by Phone Arena, those in Europe and are using Samsung Galaxy Note 5 can now download and install the latest update to Android 7.0 Nougat over the air. It’s strange for the update to be rolling out to those in Romania at this point in time given that the same treat was given to those in Turkey in mid-March. But that is just how Android updates are.
The same update to Android 7.0 Nougat was also rolled out to the Galaxy Note 5 variant with model number SM-N920G back in March and apparently, the current one weighs the same at 1.3GB. Not only will Note 5 owners in Romania start enjoying the new Nougat-related features, but their phones will also be updated to a newer Android security patch for the month of March. Of course, this is not the latest Android version or monthly security update, but all the same, the phone will be getting a new lease of life once this software is installed.
Those in the U.S. started receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat back in April, with Sprint leading the way before other carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile joined the party later on.
Even though the update has kicked-off, it doesn’t mean all Galaxy Note 5 units in the country – or region for that matter – will receive the update all at once. It could take days before it gets to you, but you can jump ahead of the queue by heading to Settings>About phone>System updates and check for the updates manually.
In other related news, it appears that Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will not be the only device receiving the Nougat treat in the coming days. Although not yet out, those using Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 can rest assured that the company is working on the Nougat update. The phone recently showed up on GFXBench with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, an indicator that testing is going on, with the release expected to happen soon.
